Movie → a film that tells a story
Underrated → something that is underestimated
An Underrated Movie → a movie that deserves better
Discussing movies is one of my favorite things to do, I can spend hours talking about a film from the plot to the ring that the protagonist was wearing in a scene that was about 30 seconds long. I just love discussing movies, once I was with a friend at a restaurant and the waiter was pressuring us to leave because we had been talking about our favorite films for 4 hours.
I like to see what people think about the same movie, because at the end of the day, Everyone has a different taste or opinion when it comes to movies; you may like big blockbuster movies or an indie film with a limited release or both, but a thing everyone has in common is the fact that we all have a list of underrated movies. Those films that you wondered why they didn’t get more awards or why they flop in the box office.
One funny thing that happens when you discuss about underrated films is that some movies have thousands of people who agree that are underrated, but others have one person who believes that is underestimated while the rest of the world thinks that is actually overrated.
So today, I’m going to tell you about a couple movies that deserve better, in my opinion.
*Insert the “THAT’S MY OPINION” Vine*
Let’s start with the most underrated animated film of all time. Brother Bear. This movie. Oh my god. Disney didn’t have to give us such a beautiful story, but they did that for us. If you don’t know what Brother Bear is about, let me tell you. This movie is about Kenai who is turned into a bear by the Spirits and meets Koda, while he is traveling to a mountain in order for him to become human. Trust me when I say that the movie is so much better than what it sounds. It’s a beautiful story with amazing visual and you should go watch it right now.
Let’s move on to an amazing film that deserves a sequel, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., this movie was such a surprise for me, because I did not expected to like it so much, the only reason I saw the film was because Alicia Vikander is in it, but this movie is amazing. It’s about an american spy and a russian spy who have to work together in a mission at the middle of the cold war. If you have seen this movie, you know that the purse scene saved the film industry. This movie is a masterpiece, the actions sequences are amazing and the chemistry between the actors is 10/10.
There are a lot of movies that are underrated and it’s a personal preference, everyone has their list, they may be similar or completely different, but at the end of the day, we all know that some movies deserve better. Here is a list I made on letterboxd about movies that people told me are underrated: https://boxd.it/3GMJg
