August Music Recap

Today is the last day of August and it has been a wild ride, so I wanted to share it with you through music, my most listened songs this month, my favorite lyrics and why I love them. Spoiler Alert: almost all of them are about love or heartbreak.

You Oughta Know – Alanis Morissette

“Does she know how you told me / You’d hold me until you died / ‘Til you died, but you’re still alive”

I recently discovered this song and it’s AMAZING. I don’t have a boyfriend and I never had one, but this songs makes me mad at my non existent boyfriend. Besides that the lyrics are raw and you can feel what she is feeling. I was also shook when I found out that this song was inspired by the actor who is Uncle Joey from Full House, like I didn’t see that coming.

Your Song – Taron Egerton

“So excuse me forgetting / But these things I do / See I’ve forgotten if / They’re green or they’re blue / Anyway the thing is, / What I really mean, / Yours are the sweetest eyes / I’ve ever seen”

Yeah, I know that the original version is from Elton John, but I love the movie version. I love this song more than I love myself, if I ever get married this will be the song I dance with my partner. There are no words that can describe the love that I have for this song.

I’m Still Standing – Taron Egerton

“Don’t you know I’m still standing better than I ever did / Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid”

I’m talking about the Rocket Man version not the Sing version. I love this song because each time I hear it I wanna sing it at the top of my lungs. Here is a little story with this song this month: I was leaving college to go to my house and I was driving alone, I had already left the campus and this song came out and I was singing it at the top of my lungs and then there was a red light and I continue to sing it until it ended then my phone starts ringing and I see that is the guy that I like so I pick up the phone and he just says “Turn to the right” and I when I turn I saw him and I was so embarrassed, but thank god the light turn to green so I could leave that situation. Then a few days later I saw him and he just asked what song it was.

Someone You Loved – Lewis Capaldi

“Now the day bleeds / Into nightfall / And you’re not here / To get me through it all”

I find this song so relaxing I don’t know if it is his voice or the melody but I like it, and the chorus is amazing I feel that.

Lover- Taylor Swift

“Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand? / With every guitar string scar on my hand / I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover / My heart’s been borrowed and yours has been blue / All’s well that ends well to end up with you”

I LOVE THIS SONG. I have always like Taylor’s music and I used to think that ‘I Know Places’ was her best song until I listened to this. OMG HER MIND IS SO POWERFUL. This song is amazing, sweet, brilliant and so catchy. I really think this song will survive the test of time. I also want to feel someday how she was feeling when she wrote this, like Imagine loving someone so much that you wrote a brilliant song about them.

That’s it. Those were my most listened song of this month. I have a little announcement, this blog has now an Instagram you can follow me @supercutoflife.

Thanks for reading!
