My Opinion About the Golden Globes 2020

Disclamer: I have not seen all the movies that were nominated but I will try to watch them all before the Academy Awards and I will make another entry when I watched them all.

Yesterday was the day of The Golden Globes and the beggining of the award season. There were a lot of surprises and things that we had to pretend to be shocked about, so let’s jump into it.

Let’s start with best picture, there were two categories, drama and comedy or musical. In the drama category I was shocked that 1917 won because I had never heard that the movie was even nominated, I heard that it was good but it does not have the hype that ‘Joker’, ‘Parasite’ and ‘Marriage Story’ have, I wanted ‘Parasite’ to win because it was by far the best movie of the year and one of the best that I have ever seen.

In Best Picture but a comedy or musical I did not want ‘Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood’ to win, I didn’t think it was good, I was rooting for ‘Rocketman’ but if that did not win I was fine with any other movie except a Quentin Tarantino movie. So you can feel my anger when ‘Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood’ won.

Best Actor in a Drama was obviously going to be Joaquin Phoenix, he is an amazing actor, I did not think ‘Joker’ was his best work but he did a perfect job and deserves the award. Another actor I was rooting for in that category was Adam Driver he did a BRILLIANT job in ‘Marriage Story’ and his acting in the last scene was better than half of the actors that are in Hollywood.

I did not know who I was rooting for in Best Actress in a Drama. I had only watched ‘Marriage Story’ but I had heard amazing things about ‘Judy’ so that was a category that I did not care to be honest.

NOW LETS TALK ABOUT MY BOY TARON EGERTON WINNING BEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY OR MUSICAL. As you noticed I’m so happy and proud that he won, he truly deserved it. I’m biased because ‘Rocketman’ is one of my favorite movies but we can not ignore the performance he gave, just the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road sequence ended careers and If he is not nominated for an Oscar I will be suing Hollywood.

My girl Awkwafina also won Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical, I have to be honest I havent seen ‘The Farewell’ but I just like Awkwafina and I love watching her interviews I was also rooting for Beanie for her performance in ‘Booksmart’ because I loved that movie.

Here is a speed round about some categories that I have not much to say. The score fron ‘Joker’ was fantastic so I knew it was going to win. If ‘Parasite’ did not win Best Foreign Language Picture I would be suing (I mean It won at Cannes, it had to win even Best Picture). Disney did not win Best Animated Film and the evil has been defeated. If you are wondering why I have not mentioned the TV shows categories is because I dont really watch TV.

ELTON JOHN AND BERNIE TAUPIN WON BEST ORIGINAL SONG and I cant wait for Taron Egerton and Elton John to sing at the Academy Awards. The excellence in that performance, their minds. It was also the best song in any movie, I dont care if you think that Lion King deserved that, because it didnt.

I’m so mad about Best Screenplay. ‘Parasite’ and ‘Marriage Story’ sweeties, Im so sorry that ‘Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood’ won. What were the voters thinking when the snubbed those movies, if this happens at the Academy Awards I will fight whoever votes for Quentin Tarantino.

And last but not least, Best Director I was 100% sure that Martin Scorsese was going to win, I thought that the only person who could win over him was Bong Joon Ho, but boy I was wrong. I did not know that Sam Mendes was nominated, I thought the director of ‘Marriage Story’ was on his place but no. Sam Mendes won and my friend thought it was Shawn Mendes, but I liked his speech and I have not seen his movie so, I dont know if he deserves it or not, but I will have to wait and see.

Those were my opinions on this year’s edition of the Golden Globes, I hope yoy liked them and if you want to share yours with me, feel free to do it in the comments. See you in the next entry!
